Business Idea: A Wiki Site for Market Sector Analyses
0 Comments Published by Louis Adekoya May 11th, 2007 in All Business Ideas, Blog, Web/techIt is late so I will get straight to the point and try to keep this brief. I have an idea for a wiki site that is dedicated to market sector analyses. The goal is that for any given market sector, e.g. mobile advertising, the wiki gives as current a view of the state of the sector as has been provided by contributors to the wiki, who hopefully would be experts in that sector. I am thinking that each sector will have its own section on the site and will be moderated by chosen experts.
The business model will of course be primarily around advertising but I can already think of one or two alternative revenue streams that I won’t divulge just yet. As far as advertising goes, the highly specific nature of each sector should facilitate fairly targeted and therefore high-value advertising.
A major challenge with any wiki site is vandalism and nonsense data, so I am wondering if the site should enforce a number of section headings to describe each sector – you know, the sort of headings you would see in a market analysis section of a business plan. This sort of restriction would however be at odds with the spirit of openness that wikis are all about, so may not be a good idea.
Does anyone have any experience that they can share regarding wiki policing and administration?
