I read a recent Business 2.0 Magazine article on the domain name trading business and decided to put some of my old and unused domain names up for sale. I have listed the domain names below in case anyone is interested in buying them:

1. www.alterpay.com - may be of interest to anyone or business wanting to offer an alternative payment service to credit cards, paypal etc. My original idea for the site was to tap into the phenomenal growth of mobile phone use in parts of Africa, to offer services around person-to-person payments and international money transfer using the mobile phone. The site actually gets a decent number of visitors intending to go to alertpay.com, which by the way I was not aware of when I registered AlterPay. My listing for this domain name is here.
2. www.peerquit.com - the idea behind this was to build a social networking site for smokers looking to quit the habit and ex-smokers or experts who can help them quit. It could include a feature like the one I suggested in a previous post The Trouble with Twitter. The listing for PeerQuit is here.

I have no idea if my asking prices are reasonable except for one of them, for which I actually ordered an appraisal. Such appraisals seem to me to be educated guesses at best. My opinion is that regardless of appraisals the worth of a domain name is determined by the value the potential buyer attaches to their intended use of the domain name.
